Reel Ting Steel Drum Band

What a beautiful combination of sounds - steel drum, flute and violin! George, Brian, John, Carol went all out to make our daughter and son in law's wedding ceremony and cocktail music unique and joyful! Even with uncooperative weather they were flexible and generous with the music, time and quality they provided! What professionals! Thank you!!

The Reel Ting Steel Drum Band were a pleasure to work with. They were true professionals from start to finish.They returned all our calls, and answered our emails, and even sent us a press kit and a song list for our review. I received numerous accolades about the bands performance from our guests. They played at my Beach Ceremony and did a great Job. These guys are awesome!

I saw the earlier negative reviews for Reel Ting and I just had to post my review because I had the best experience with the entire band, the music they played, and their professionalism. We planned our destination wedding to the Florida Keys, which went off without a hitch (except for us of course)! We depended on the band to perform our beach wedding music and the reception music. The steel drums were incredible! Their version of Cannon in D and Somewhere over the Rainbow on the steel drums were just beautiful! The Band was great. They had us up and dancing all night. We had our wedding at the Islander Resort in Islamorada, FL, which was over one thousand miles away from our home. It was well worth the trip!!! I hired the Reel Ting Band to perform at my Wedding @ the Sailfish Club in Palm Beach Florida. The Reel Ting Band did a wonderful job at our Wedding. We asked George for a couple of our special songs for the first Dance and the Daddy/Daughter dance. They performed them brilliantly. I have listened to a lot of Steel Drum Bands to date, however these guys are top on my list. I just purchased their album on Itunes so I can listen to them on the road! Their Steel drum music was upbeat, fun, and we all had a great time interacting with George and his band while doing the Congo dance. There were on time and very professional. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

This was the biggest mistake of our wedding!!! What a nightmare. This band packed up to leave at 9:30 though our reception and what was stated in the contract was to 12:00am. Then the band was fighting with their bookie about this dispute and stopped playing for an hour and a half during our reception while they were trying to work things out. Also, I typed all the information out for this band and they announced all the names incorrectly and in the wrong order for the wedding party. One of our guests had to take over the announcing of the bridal party at one point. I worked hard at highlighting a playlist that was given to me by the band and when I requested songs from their playlist, the response was they didn't know those songs. This band was so misrepresented from its website and so expensive and breached the contract several times with payment options actually taking money out of my account unauthorized. Believe me I was heartbroken about this band, I was so excited to get this band from the start, but it was a complete nightmare. No bride should cry on her wedding night due to the band but this was the case. Thank god I had an ipod with tunes on it.

I was sadly disappointed with the band's performance...especially considering what we paid for them. Our contract included five hours of play time with three steel drum bands, however only one steel drum showed up along with a keyboard and guitarist. I specifically spoke to the band and nixed the idea to have a guitarist several weeks before the wedding, however one showed up anyway. The band was supposed to play at the ceremony AND reception, however only one band member eneded up being present to play at the ceremony. The band also did not play many of the songs on the list that I provided them, which was disappointing. I specifically chose a steel drum band because our wedding was on an island and I wanted to have the island feel, but instead, they played other music that I had not requested. Also, the band took frequent and longer than anticipated breaks and I even found one band member talking on his cell phone during the reception. I had to ask the band when they were going to start playing again after dinner. Despite not playing the music that we chose, they played dance music that our guests seemed to enjoy dancing too, however I would have liked a little more island music to be incorporated as we reqested. What I found to be most disappointing and unprofessional was at the end of the night, one of the band members asked one of our wedding guests for a tip. I was OUTRAGED when I heard this. First of all, it is rude to ASK for a tip, let alone to ask a wedding guest....completely unprofessional. Had they stuck to the original plan to bring 3 steel drums and had they played more of the music that we selected and not slacked off, they might have recieved a tip, but I was highly disappointed and did not feel they deserved another dime. Another thing that I found to be frustrating was that the band made me download my own music for the first dance, father/daughter dance, etc. and I had to worry about giving them my iPod to play from. I would think that a legitimate band would have their own iPod and library of music to choose from and would not need to involve the bride in this process. They also interrupted the bride and groom first dance and invited everyone onto the dancefloor only a few moments into the song. The first dance is one of the most special moments of the reception and I felt that they totally down-played it and minimized the importance of it. I would not recommend this band for your wedding. I was extremely disappointed :o(

A++++This was a surprise for my hunnie. I found George through a recommendation from Cathy @ Marriott Key Largo. He was so good to work with - we went over everything, he corresponded quickly and promptly. They showed up on time and played the vibe of music I wanted. I would definitely recommend, one of my favorite vendors :) They even have a website I listen to at work.
